GDT 7/2: reds game 2

The NL Central is really bad.

The Brewers are 20-20 against all teams outside of the division; St. Louis is 21-22 (could be 22-22 with 3 more outs); Pittsburgh is 17-22; Cubs are 13-26; Reds are 15-33. The last 3 teams are actually boosted in the standings because of their division.

I mean i think it's clear he needs to stay in the rotation. The stuff is insane, if he gets a 3rd pitch, oh my.

The change is already looking much more developed.

I think one strength of the current regime is they're identifying players who can absorb and incorporate coaching quickly. That's what separates a Toussaint (as much as I love the kid) from a Strider, or a Waters (as much as I don't care) from a Harris.

I had forgotten the stress that Will Smith causes when closing games. No wonder AA went and got Kenley. His cardiologist probably made him.

Here’s to more bouncing Emmas and Ellies tomorrow !

So.. if Strider wins ROY, do we get a bonus draft pick? He was on the team opening day. I’m not sure if that 1 inning cup of coffee last year would disqualify him.

DeGrom is set to earn $30.5 million next year if he doesn't opt out. What can the Braves offer to top that? Especially because if he does end up opting out, that likely means he had a great finish to this season and is expecting more money.

No. It's an incentive for top prospects. Has to be listed on 2 of the major top 100 prospect lists.

Probably a 2 year deal, something like 2/50ish or so. Mets would 100000 percent offer a bigger deal. If Braves make a deep postseason run again, NLCS/WS run, win or lose. DeGrom could just be intrigued to join regardless of what he's being offered.

And regarding ROY. In the NL. Strider ranks first in fWAR among rookies at 1.5. Michael Harris is tied for 2nd with 1.4

Remember when we NEEDED starting pitching? Who knew that it would be because Anderson was a stiff now... (watch him pitch 18 innings 1 run ball in the playoffs this year)

With Wright/Strider taking the leap this year AA can get VERY creative in the offseason.

also New York taxes. So Mets would have to offer an extraordinarily amount more. Similar to Freddie California thing.

Pitcher regression is EXACTLY why you can’t have too much pitching.
