GDT 7/21 - Season of The Purge

Acuna now at career high k rate. Throwing out 2020. I'm beginning to think the ones saying the braves were cheating somehow in 2023 may have been right...

What else explains this?

Acuna is on bad knees and like 2022 was going to struggle this year. Is was fools gold to think anything other than that and a better option as a 4th outfielder should have been gotten.

Or just keep Ramon for a few million

unless AA set out to be bad this season to run off snit, it's hard to believe an mlb gm actually broke camp on a contender with this little depth

Braves should open every Daniel start with Luke Williams. Maybe that slow crap will throw off their timing

Watching Misiorowski in hopes of him coming back down to earth for the ROY race and, uh, this guy is unreal.

The ROY race - it just occurred to me that maybe AA realized the season is finally over and get Drake ABs every game to win that award and get the draft pick …

He shouldn't have been an all star though. Hopefully that doesn't play into voters minds bc being an all star after 5 starts when there were a lot more deserving is crazy.

This wasn’t a knock on Acuna. More of why he is struggling with a higher K rate. He is on two bad knees and we already have a history of what he was like after his first surgery. But that version of Acuna is still a great hitter. But we shouldn’t have expected 2023 Acuna and the FO should have built a better OF to allow him to ease back into an everyday role. As it is, he is forced to play everyday and I think that is a bad decision.

Ramon should have been an easy keep and a lot of us said that when they let him go.

I'm fine with it. Same with Skenes starting the game last year over some other guys that might have been more deserving. The ASG is the best opportunity for the MLB to prop up it's young stars that can help draw in younger fans or just new fans in general. I'd much rather see someone like Mizz make it and actually pitch over someone super forgettable like Robbie Ray or David Peterson.

Who cares about his K-rate when he is just as productive... which he is

Dude had a 171 wRC+ in 2023, has a 188 wRC+ this year so far.

He's playing better than his expected stats this year but his xwOBA is still elite

He's unbelievable, but he has been lucky. Babip over .400 XBA, xSLG, and xwoba are all lower than real stats. To be fair though, his xStats would all be great.

And yet his xStats are still elite and in line with his play in 2023... maybe not exactly there but certainly in the same ball park.
