GDT 7/23/13: Braves (Medlen) @ Mets (Torres) 7:10 PM

Fred McGriff had such an astounding impact on our club. He'll forever go down as one of my all time favorites.

We need someone to revitalize this team like he did that year. Obviously we're not 10 games out in the standings, but we can't keep falling back on the other teams sucking. We have to play better. Don't settle.

did anyone mention simmons' comment?

"we've got to do the little things better, we can't rely on the long ball everyday" :YDS:

hahahahhahahhaha....practice what you preach

How can a first place team be this embarrassing and frustrating?!

Another question or two: if you attended a MLB game in any city between any two teams, would you wear a Braves cap to it? Are you proud of the team just because they're the Braves, in first place or not proud of them at all?

Justin hasn't had a hit in his last three games. He's not running well either. It might be time to rest him a game.

His OPS is now under .800 too. That's telling given his great first month.

Ive been preaching on here that our guys are too comfortable and this is the reasoning behind why this team looks dead almost all of the time until the late innings.

Simmons quote after the game last night - "We feel comfortable," said shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who homered on Tuesday.

All I know is that when I played sports back in the day, when teams I played on was comfortable in the way we were playing, we didnt play well. When we kept our competitive edge and wanted to win every game, more times than not we did and we played so much better.

Im just going to take the positives out of this - This team does know that its a good team. It knows what it needs to do to become a better team and the team it was at the beginning of the season. Its pretty clear they want to win every game, but they arent doing the things they know they need to do bc they have gotten comfy. We'll be fine.

So when will Upton/Heyward carry us? Thats what this team is built on.

How dare you question the chosen ones!!!!

Joking of course, but we ain't going anywhere without Heyward and Upton thats for sure. Especially with as big of a black hole as Bj has been.

I just don't get whats up with Justin. I don't see how you can be so dominant in April and suck so bad since. I'm sure he is dinged up but if you suit up and go out there you can't use the injury excuse.

He was out to prove Arizona wrong in April. I think he started swinging for the fences more and more and just got into a bad slump and is now trying too hard. Hes got a nice swing and tons of power. Once he figures out he doesnt need to try to hit homers, he will be fine.

Then again, I said the same thing about his brother, and Uggla.

I just remember the outrage against those that questioned Upton a couple of months ago. We were told he would absolutely start playing better.

Zito, is this still the universe correcting for his APril?
