GDT 7/26/13: Cardinals (Wainwright) @ Braves (Minor) 7:30 PM

SInce I can't see them, I can only assume that all 4 posts were made by the same poster. A phenomenal exodus has taken place.

Jerry Starke with the introductions.
Tedd complaining how the GDT's are dead an hour and some change after the game has started and complains about our offense.
Poster A complains about Tedd.
AA comes in to try and ease the tension.
Tedd makes a joke.

Looks like Mike had minor trouble in handling the Cards today.

Wood had an injury-derailed career. Not a ton of just blow your mind seasons. I think Stras could be another Wood, but to say he's not as good as Wood, I don't know.

And I promise I'm not trying to be Giles 2.0. I hate the Nats, but damn.

I wouldn't compare Strasburg to Wood since Wood has arguably some of the worst mechanics out there. I said when he was coming up he could be either Chris Carpenter or John Smoltz because he has **** mechanics and will get hurt. Question is does he have John Smoltz's tough as nails mentality and have a HOF career despite a pretty obvious timing issue.

No, because he has not truly dominated. You aren't scared to face him. If you see 6 innings 13 k's or 7 innings 12 k's on a consistent basis, then yes. Mostly it been 6 innings 6 k's close to 100 pitches. Of course our team isn't scared of him and he really doesn't dominate us as a strikeout laden team. Dillon Gee scares the bejesus out of us for some reason and he has 1/3 the ability of Stras.

Zimmerman has got hammered the last few games. Gio has been their most consistent so far. He doesn't have those wildly inconsistent starts like the other two and Haren, LMAO.

Strasburg is still young and learning. He throws 97 with ease, that's scary. When his secondary offerings get on par with his fastball he will belike a right handed less mulleted (thus less cool) Randy Johnson.

I don't know. We a lot of young pitchers who start out like that and then nothing. People proclaiming him to be the next big thing is making it worse for him. People would rather face him than:

Verlander
Weaver
Kershaw
Buchholz
Zimmerman
Gio Gonzalez
Wainright

I know our team would.

We are scared of pitchers like:
Zimmerman
Gee
Sanchez
Lincecum

None of them have Stras abilities but yet they shut us down. Based on our atrocious K mark, in Ynot I purposely asked will Stras get 12 or more k's, most people except Dalyn and I would say no, then they don't get points because he doesn't. Everyone on here except Dalyn and I thinks he is the best pitcher in baseball, well I am waiting to see if that is correct. Based on everyone's thinking of his skills and looking at our team, he should have broken Wood's record several times and hasn't. That tells me something.

Strasburg is a lot like Young Verlander. Verlander wasn't dominant when he first came up aside from stretches. Look at him now, won an MVP.

I'll take Strasburg on my team. Guy probably has the either the second or third best stuff in the game. Only guys who are better IMO in terms of pure stuff are Harvey and maybe Scherzer.

The media will never allow him to be a Verlander, too much pressure put on him. His mechanics are almost like Woods and we know how that turned out. Throwing 97 and then torquing your arm for changeups and sliders takes a toll on you. His fastballs moves most of the time but not like Verlander/Sherzer and Weavers dart left or right on most occasions, just like Wainrights did last night. Smoltz was really good at that. Prior's was down right filthy in that regard.

He should be averaging 11+ k's per 9 innings and he is not for his stuff.

He should at the minimum strikeout 15+ Braves a game considering how terrible we are in that department.

Where is that approach every game? Looked like the team was looking to go the other way and adjust to the inside fastball. Much better at bats overall.

Minor a stud.

CJ with some decent D.

CJ has been about an average defensive third baseman thsi year. You wouldn't know that from some comments over here.

I agree, that approach was great. Stop trying to hit homeruns. Nice level swings going the other way.

No he has not been. both UZR and DRS have him costing us 6 runs defensively. He's not as bad as he was in 2011, but still isn't good.
