GDT: 7-29-13 Rockies at Braves, Feeling a little Beachy.

Very important victory!
I hope Beachy can find back to his form of 2012!

Downs can be the missing piece to the WS!

Oh, now over 800 posts in this thread!!!

I'm not worried about the Beachenator. I'm glad his velocity is still there. Everything else should fall into place once he gets comfortable me thinks

I missed the ending last night, but just saw the replays. Wow. Andrelton is still swinging out of his shoes but hes doing a good job of putting the ball in play and stepping up in clutch moments here as of late. Beachys line doesnt look good, but the main thing is that he said he felt fine physically after the game. His stuff will come and we all know how good he can be. It was also great seeing our new addition get the W last night.

Just a week ago I was worried about this team. No fire, and quite frankly, just didnt look like a good team. From what im reading, it seems the guys are awake again and ready to run away with this division. Also, it seems this team is developing that killer instinct and the expectation to win every night instead of being satisfied with the results prior.

Braves have an amazing win last night and no coverage on ESPN's front page. This team just can't catch a break with media coverage.

Was anyone else a little surprised that Simmons didn't try to bunt Uggla over to 2nd. I was thinking that was the right move at the time, but obviously it worked out for us.

Nah, Mac was on deck and Constanza after him. So if Simmons bunts they just walk Mac to face Constanza. No offense to Constanza but Braves rather Mac get a shot if Simmons doesn't win it.

Much needed win, kinda like stealing a game.

No Kimbrel, bad start from Beachy.

Not a great start from Beachy but first start from TJ, it takes time.

Im not comparing the 2 skill wise but Simmons will be better down in the order ala Ian Desmond. Desmond took off, it seemed, when they dropped him down in the order instead of trying to lead him off or bat him 2nd. I expect the same will happen with Simmons as well. Less pressure, and hes always actually done a decent job at getting runners in.

It's just appalling that it took Fredi this long to finally end the Simmons at lead off experiment.

I still can't believe Fredi let 4-4 (at the time) Gonzalez bat in the 9th. You walk him. It is a simple, easy decision.

Another good game. I watched the first hour, set it on record and did other stuff, and then saw the score in the eighth so watched the rest. Man, if Simmons can continue to do what he's done the last couple games with the bat, he is going to be our most valuable player. Beachy looked terrible, but his first start and probably had some jitters.

The only downside to watching these games is having to listen to the Rockies announcers - I can understand them being Rockie-centric, but they also absolutely butchered Terdo and Varvaro's last names. It was kinda funny listening to them call Simmons game winner - "Simmons hits it hard, to the wall.... Rockies lose."

That's because Fredi doesn't actually do any managing. Never sends runners, hit and run, intentionally walks. He writes out a lineup and that's it.

... and unfortunately ordering a lineup has often been one of his deficiencies.
