I don't think Culberson or Joyce need starts. they're fine in the roles they have and would be below average as starters most likely.

Probably more that they excel at pinch hitting. That is not easy to find.

Agree. I don't think that gets enough pub. Having a RH and LH that are actually good at pitch hitting is rare. I hope we bring both back. Joyce's issue is that hes pretty bad in the field. Culberson can fill in a bunch of spots. But having pieces like Comargo, Acuna, Culberson and Albies should allow you to carry one bat only guy for the bench.

It really is a rare talent to be able to produce as a PH. Maybe there is metric that will make this statement foolish. But I don't see this type of guy that much. I think I remember the 90s having a lot of PH masters but maybe I just watched more than one team then because I had more time.

I think Joyce and Culberson would say it is very helpful to get into a game and have 4 ABs every other week or so.
