GDT 7/3/22: Braves @ Reds - Max Offense for Morton

Braves could be 7-1 over their last 8 with a bit more luck. Instead they're 5-3. This loss and the last loss to the Dodgers we're games where the Braves played better.

Missed opportunity. Glad Morton did well. Mchugh hasn’t impressed me despite his good work in the Al. I think his peripherals were good.

I’m never comfortable with minter, especially if a guy gets on early.

But I do think snit did the right thing using minter over smith.

We have a lot of days in a row. Worried about the pen.

I would have still had Minter in over Smith. AJ just didn’t have it today and defense didn’t help. Many of Smith scoreless innings are like a defense in football making a goal line stand when the offense had first and goal at the one yard line. The job may have gotten done, but it wasn’t easy to watch.

You guys are hilarious. It’s a sucky loss, but we won the series. I do hope AA can go get another right handed impact arm for the pen.

I will say the pen has been a bit disappointing compared to what it was supposed to be

Having Yates, Matzek, Jansen all coming back in the next month is going to be yuge. But Snit will still find ways to plug in Will Smith to close on Jansen's off-days.

2 out of every 3 the rest of the way gives you 100 wins on the nose even with the lower-leverage guys blowing one every here-and-there.

Using those guys every time you've won the first two games of a series is perfectly alright with me - even if you wind up with 95 wins instead.

Get me to October with a healthy Fried, Morton, Wright, and Strider in the rotation and Jansen, Minter, Matzek, Stephens, Smith, and Yates available two out of every three days and I'll be a happy camper.

It's a marathon, not a sprint boys!!!

Let's see if we can survive the Luck and Spirit of St. Louis this week.

What type of magic will the Cardinals come up with the next few days?
