GDT: 7-30-13 Rockies at Braves, Wood pitching, JHey lead-off

The regular arms won't need to pitch that much in September when you have blowouts. That trickles down to the whole bullpen.

Everyone is just so quick to "get another guy". The Braves have proven they know what they are doing with young pitching. I'll take my chances with our guy.

Wood is being used out of necessity, not because of some grand plan.

We don't have blow outs. Even when we score 9 runs the other teams scores 8. Kimbrel, Walden, Avilan, and Downs will still pitch 2 out of every 3 days no matter what the score is.

I am not saying go get Peavy or Norris or the BIG name guy.

I don't see anyone saying he will never be a good starter

He absolutely destroyed the minor leagues. He earned a shot and it would behoove the Braves to give that to him. He has great stuff. He can pitch in the big leagues.

The lesser known guy will not be that much better than Wood.

again not saying he can't

But right now with how this rotation is set up I think we need more then what wood can bring at this point in his career.

Gattis struggling a lot right now. But that was a decent AB.

It was? He yanked an inside pitch foul, clubbed a pitch over his head foul and fanned on the only pitch he saw that was a strike. With a man on third, and the infield in in a one run game. That's a terrible at bat. But it's true that others do the same stuff.

Put the damn bat on the ball. Situational hitting. It'd be nice if the team grasped the concept.

Well Wood is a guy that could develop into a 2 or a 3 and that could happen as early as this year. The guy we get is going to be a back end guy. No thanks. I don't care if that guy can throw 1 more innning a start on average. I'll roll the dice with Wood,.

So who do we get then?

You guys ever heard of patience, Julio and Minor struggled. Now they are both doing well. A backed starter isnt a massive upgrade to Wood.

If we still had Hudson I would be fine with it but we don't and I think it could become an issue

I get your angle but I just don't see anyone available for a price I would be willing to pay that would be a big upgrade over Wood.

Oh, for plunk's sake, thethe. There is no way Wood could develop into a 2 or a 3 THIS YEAR. That is just silly.
