GDT: 7/31/13 Rockies at Braves

Y'all need to stop hogging my glory.

MY GLORY

Even if you aren't a sabermetric genius and use OBP and whatever... the fact that Simmons average was under .240 would make ANYBODY scream put anybody else on the leadoff spot.

I think even the regular fans who don't use advanced stats, would have said put CJ at the leadoff spot because his average was so high.

He didn't even acknowledge my point, though he brought up the market demand. He simply ignored it and went on to arguing for WAR value.

Your point is that BJ was overpaid. Based on typical production he was actually UNDERPAID. Of course you can not like that he got the contract and that I would understand but to say that he was overpaid is simply false. He got a typical market value contract because contracts are handed out based on future market value. Again hindsight says the first year is going to be an over payment. The next 4 years can easily be and underpayment.

Screen cap this: "I flick on those who didn't vote you into the HOF"

Actually, I was always against the deal. I was also hoping to re-sign Bourn but to a shorter deal.

And to me that's a perfectly fair thing to say. But it made more sense to sign BJ at the time and the Braves can still get very good value from his contract in the future.

I was against Simmons hitting leadoff before the season started.

You don't have to to call me a genius, just acknowledge how right I was.

There was some poster, probably a genius in real life, who went on such a rant and rave about Heyward hitting leadoff, and how it was a bad idea to have Simmons leadoff because hitting our worst hitter first is a bad idea. Who was that again?

Our DH has done a real good job tonight too. An RBI. What's that you say? He's winning as the pitcher too? But the NL needs the DH... Just having some fun, guys...:happy0157:

Again, we can make the same argument based on Uggla's contract. Would you also defend it? Just trying to see how consistent you'll be here. Further, my point regarding the free agent market isn't less valid. BJ didn't have offers anywhere near ours, so Wren basically bid against himself just like he has in the past (namely the Lowe signing). In fact, Wren's arguments for doing so for Lowe and BJ were basically the same. I am not saying this to bash Wren, I just don't see this as one of his strengths (Wren is much better at trades, etc).

You guys should take this to the Bryce Harper Quote thread.
