GDT 7/7/24: Braves vs Phillies - 8 or 10 GB

What a season Lopez is having. 1.50 ERA in April, 1.98 ERA in May. 1.64 ERA in June. And 2 starts into July he has a 1.76 ERA for the month. Dudes contract would be a bargain even if we doubled his ERA. And I think we would have all thought we hit the jackpot if he had a 3.50 right now.

Nice response after the debacle Friday but it’s time for this team
To put it together. This won’t mean anything if they go out and lay another egg out west like they usually do

The time is October. We tried being the best team by far in the regular season. We lost in the DS. The 2021 team was hovering around .500 at the trade deadline and just magically clicked one day. I will keep saying it, we want to be the best team in October not July or May.

Really feel like the boys sent a message. I still don't think they catch the Phils but they need to get serious about the playoff run and start piling up the series wins.

More or less. I just care about making the playoffs. If the 90s once the WC was put into place not proof enough then last year should have done it. Make the playoffs and play your best baseball then. That's what the 2021 team did.

Rosario 2-3, hr

He needs to be on the plane. Either play Laureano or IL him. Laureano and Rosario should be platooning in lf

If they just keep treading water, the playoffs aren't a guarantee. They have to start putting together wins over a longer stretch. I'm not thinking about the division or anything else.

Theres 6 playoff spots and 6 NL teams with records above .500. Playoff odds are over 90%. The teams we are competing with here are hardly perfect teams or consistent themselves.

4 out of six against them so far….. and we got another opportunity coming up soon-
Now let’s get to Ariz and kick their ass.

Don't think we will catch them....we just need to make the WC. With our pitching we would have a chance.

Everybody said the same thing about the Mets a few years ago. The Phillies have played their best ball where we haven’t. I still think we are the better team and end up winning the division.

Mets gonna Met. The Phillies were without Harper, Schwarber, and Realmuto and we avoided Wheeler. They are a much better and deeper team than the 2022 Mets. We probably needed to sweep this series to have any sort of realistic shot at the division.

I must say that's optimism....us winning the division. There's always hope.

And the Braves were without Acuña and Harris abd they avoided Sale.

I don’t think the Braves win the division either, but let’s not act like the playing field wasn’t even.

Eh, fair. But Harper destroys us and has been playing at an MVP level this year. Realmuto isn't what he was but still gives us trouble. Neither Acuña nor Harris were having good years when they got hurt. Reality is we pissed away too many series against bad and mediocre teams. If we were to win the division, it would be because A.) Everyone just starts hitting like last year, B.) We miraculously stay healthy the rest of the way and there's no drop-off in the pitching; and C.) Because of those two, we just go on a complete tear, like 55-19 or 53-21 over the last 74 and just run them down. They won't collapse.
