GDT 7/8: Braves in a AAA stadium

Hoping we can see Braun, Meija, or Burkhaulter soon. All of them are doing relatively well. Brett Sears is being pushed hard this year. Maybe see what he has too.

These guys aren't raw 20 year olds. These are experienced college pitchers. Let's see what at least a couple of them got in a throw away season. Don't worry about the options or the clock on these guys since they are all like 25 anyways.
at this point these guys need their shot in the bigs and if nothing else develop them more in the pen instead of just starting in the minors. same with Waldrep. Their clock is running out and if they can't start now, then transition them to the pen and try and get some value out of them.

Braves should pay the remaining 2025 salaries for almost every pen guy not named Lee/Daysbel/JJ and try to trade them for anything they can get. Holmes and Elder should be included.

Prince Albert/Iggy/Bummer should fetch something intriguing most likely.
DLS/Monterible/Homes could return a lottery grab in low A
Elder would be a throw in and could be argued to be kept for draft lottery position.

sending snit out as a 100-game loser appeals to me more than firing him now.

Allen, White, Albies, Harris and others are the problem. Riley isn't even on the list. He'll still hit .275 with 30 homers and 100 rbi. He's tied with Ohtani with the 4th most hits in the NL. What more do you want?
I don’t think Riley gets to 30 HR, nor was he likely to last season. Even if he does, that’s not very impressive for a #3 hitter who gets 700 PA a season and rarely walks.
His problems started before the injury. He was remarkably consistent from 21-24, but declined significantly last season, losing roughly 100 points of OPS compared to his previously established level. Right now, he’s more or less performing the same way. Whatever the reason: until he proves otherwise, I have to assume that that is now his new normal.

For Albies, it’s a little different, because he’s always been injury-prone and has never been consistent. He declined significantly last year compared to his excellent 2023, but not to unheard-of levels. This season, he’s deteriorated completely. It could be the wrist, but it could also be the continuation of a trend. And to me, he looks beyond saving. When he swings, no two parts of his body are moving the same way. The Braves should obviously pick up his option, but they also need to start thinking about a replacement very soon.
(To be honest, I‘ve always wondered how he did succeed, with his slow bat, low EV, and poor plate discipline)

80 grade bat control will get you a nice sweet spot percentage.
