GDT #71. 6/18 12:10 PM EST Phillies (Hernandez) @ Braves (Harang)

Lol we have literally saved the Phillies' season

Good, that'll set them back another 5 years. They'll think they're in it and won't trade anybody at the deadline. They'll quickly slide 10 games out and won't have any prospects to show for it. Typical phillies move.

Oh please.

It's really really really easy to say Fredi mismanaged the pen, when our offense had plenty chances to win games in extras AND before extras.

Let me add something here. Today he bunts over the runner in the bottom or the 4th inning down 3. Two times in the last 5 days he has not bunted either the winning run or tying run over in the bottom of the 9th. Can you please explain that?

You are nearly as loyal to Fredi as you are to the big BO...

I'm certainly not a Fredi loyalist, I just think it's hilarious people blame him for things that players choke on (not getting down bunts, hitting into double plays with runners on instead of moving runners over, etc).

The other night we had plenty of scoring opportunities and opportunities to win the game, despite the fact BJ was hitting in the #2 spot.

We aren't hitting in the clutch, and before that our bullpen was blowing leads. But yeah, it's Fredi alright.

Justin Upton very likely sucks at bunting.

Justin Upton is one of our best hitters.

Justin Upton failed to move the runners over/in.

Other players hitting with runners on grounding into double plays.

Have you watched our team all year? We've pretty much sucked at bunting all around.

and again, who's fault is that?

In the game day thread from the first game of this series, I discussed whether it would be a good idea to let Varvaro take one for the team rather than burning Hale as well. I have to say that the turn of events in today's game validates the point I was making. If Fredi had exercised some foresight two days ago, we'd have a much better bullpen situation today. He really is awful at bullpen management. And bullpen management is one of the most important parts of a manager's job.
