GDT 8/1/24: Braves vs Marlins - Snit with some interesting choices

Sooo….. Charlie bounced back nicely … and we finally got our hands on the baseballs the Yankees get to use …..

SOLID!!!

Coming out of a slump is always so damn fun.

We also had like 7 outs tonight hit with 95+mph EVs. We're putting some good wood on the ball recently.

These GDTs seem to be shorter when we win. Page after page of meltdowns when we lose. lol

I don't know that the Marlins are good enough to make the playoffs in AAA so we need to take advantage of these series.

It's always been that way. It's better than it used to be though. Game threads used to be people having panic attacks that the team 10 games behind us was going to pass us any day now.

man I was looking at some data from Swhelly last start and do the Braves have a better Soroka emerging..

He is now throwing a 4seam, cutter and sinker to offset the lack of movement on his 4seam. He also pumped the 4 seam up to 98 and averaged 96+ (higher than normal) Then he has a hard sinker that sits about the same as his 4 seam in MPH and a cutter that averages 94.. So as a hitter, you don't know what that pitch is going to do and have to just guess.

His slider is his best pitch and he uses it the most now. It has an xBA of under .200 and xwoba of .217... it is death

That is enough to make him pretty special, especially with his control.. but what does he do.. adds a splitter that is running almost at a 50% whiff rate. He doesn't flash it a lot but it is also just as devastating as his slider.

I originally thought he was a solid MOR guy.. but if he maintains the command and control he is displaying, I predict he will be battling for some Cy's (not the mom) in his near, like maybe next year, future...

He is now my favorite pitcher to watch.. since strider is down.

I think I'm going to start calling him Shelly.....you know like shelling them . It's easier to spell than Schellen...and even easier than Swhelly.
