GDT 8/1- (Happy Jerry Day) the revenge of the Touki !

If Acuna is back, Swanson has become the player everyone expected him to be, Touki can hold onto a rotation slot, and Wright proves to be legit, this is the best team in the NL.

Now Just upgrade 3b somehow. I feel like Culberson could do better than our current options

Not sure it's better than LAD, but not far behind. Need a 3rd SP to emerge somehow.

Touki’s K per 9 is pretty solid and he reached 96-97 on his fastball tonight which I haven’t seen from him in a while. His offspeed stuff has always been electric but his fastball looked pretty solid tonight.
If he could be consistent and step up to be a solid number 3/4 for this club then I really like our chances to come out of the NL this season.

I didn’t get to see Touki pitch but his numbers were very inefficient and he had 3 walks in 4 innings.

How’d he command his fastball?

He hardly threw it - at least in the first two innings.

Not sure whether that was the gameplan or not, but by the time he started trying to use it he struggled to locate - it was almost if he was trying to sneak it by them. They had already seen all his offspeed stuff really early and started laying off, driving his pitch count up.

Like I said, it may have been intentional because he looked good - the sequencing just seemed a bit strange to me personally.

I don’t want to be a Debbie downer, but seems more like he ambushed them with filthy breaking stuff until they started laying off since he couldn’t command his fastball.

Unfortunately he wasn't "ambushing" anyone. He only threw 11 of 18 first pitches for strikes - many of his early count pitches were easy to spit on because they weren't really close. Just as Frenchy was mentioning about Wright yesterday, it was far from "terrible", but all three of the young guys currently in the rotation are pitching scared - they seem to be terrified of contact no matter what pitch they're throwing. Until this gets corrected, there's almost no chance you're going to get 5 innings out of ANY of them - and their stuff is WAY to good for that.
