GDT 8-10-18 NIGHT OF THE LIVING GAUSMAN

I would rather have Muk back on a one year deal for 18M than a 2 year deal at approx $15M per year.

Even if that 1/18 deal had to be locked in at the start of the off season and eliminated you from even evaluating the other cOF options?

I’m going to guess Markakis will be a lot cheaper than 2/30 in January. He will be Plan C for a lot of teams, including the Braves.

In terms of free agent options, I prefer not to dabble in the markets for Harper and Pollock. But I would ask about a couple players on the trade market, Joc Pederson, Max Kepler and Ian Happ come to mind, before making a decision on giving Muk a qualifying offer.

I am really liking the Gausman trade so far, I was afraid we'd pay a lot for Archer. When in my view Gausman made more sense all things considered. I also thought we might end up with Sonny Gray at one point. It looks like we dodged two bullets and ended up getting a great deal done.

if we trade for an outfielder version of gausman this offseason that would be great...someone w 2-4 years of control left who doesnt cost too much in terms of prospects...that's the model...guys like Pederson, Happ and Kepler...non-elite players w some upside

The best players on market are Harper and Pollock. Harper should cost a fortune but might be worth it.

Pollock should cost a lesser fortune and probably won’t be.

I’d rather have Markakis for one year overpay than commit to 20 million for five years on pollock.
