I was thinking the same thing, that ball was slow off the glove. What was Markakis doing, watching the whole thing?

Why they chose to “upgrade” the OF rather than 3b will always be a mystery.

They clearly planned to do both and Duvall in the OF is more for next year I think. I mean I expect him to platoon more regularly next year whereas this year more a bench bat and to spell Inciarte vs lefties. However, should he get really hot you could see him played more regularly, even at third base sometimes. But he is not hitting enough so far to even consider that.

To sum it up, I believe a deal at the deadline for possibly even Travis Shaw fell through late for some reason.
