GDT 8-13: No Baldwins in Queens Tonight

Since the braves are obviously a cursed franchise now, Collins will probably finish this season as acuna, and then go back to obscurity. He wasn't in the brewers' top 30 prospects last year or this year. This can't continue, can it?!!!
I don't think it will bc his bapip is really high. At least I hope he can't for the next 6 weeks. If he can cool off for a few weeks and they play Baldwin 5-6 days a week then I think it's a rap.

It's a silly question. Of course if I were managing an MLb team, HS basketball team, or pee wee football team, I would try to win.
He is retiring and should have the best interest of the team in mind versus meaningless wins. He should also be following a directive from upper management that Baldwin should be playing everyday.. not 5 times a week.. every game. The team can win and play Baldwin everyday.

The only thing that matters is securing that ROY bonus pool.. not Murph's feelings.. not Ozuna's feelings.. not twit's feelings.

Baldwin has been playing. I don't think sitting him vs a tough Lhp is killing his chances at winning

Baldwin is going to be the Rookie of the Year and I doubt it will be even close.
I hope.. funny. I like to look at polymarket a lot.. they have him at like 80% chance.. but then they didn't even have Collins. They had Mizz though... so I thought for a second that Collins was ineligible.. but then realized polyMarket is just dumb on this.

I never have a problem criticizing anyone on the braves or their FO/coaching, but it's hard for me to critique the handling of Baldwin.

Last 7 games - .970 ops
Last 15 - .808
Last 30 - .851

Seems they're getting him in there at the correct times

ok.. he sat Sunday.. sitting tonight.. I guess he will sit Fri against another lefty..and again on Sunday versus another LHP.. but I guess 4 times in one week is good for his chances.. gotcha.

OPS is great.. the counting stats are what is going to win it.. not inputs sadly. MLB voters are not that bright.

And speaking of overall draft pick odds with the lottery, I know Snit is going to win every game because he's a professional.

In 2016 before the lottery, the Braves had a top 1 or 2 pick incoming in the last 2 weeks of the year. Then the team won 12 of their last 14 games and fell down to 5th in the 2017 draft. They drafted Kyle Wright. Royce Lewis, Mackenzie Gore, and Hunter Greene were drafted in front of Kyle Wright.

yeah.. I just want to be in the top 5 (which they should be able to do) and then let the lottery play out. Would love to catch the gNats, but I just don't see it. Stay around the pirates and I will be happy.

Collins is on the best team in baseball and is ahead of Baldwin in fWAR by a non trivial margin: 3.1 vs 2.3

It may not end up being close in the end but Collins has pretty clearly been better overall thus far… lucky or not.

Not that it means anything, but in a vote by all 33 of mlb.com's individual team correspondents, Baldwin got 24 first-place votes, Marlins' C Ramirez got 4 and Collins got 3.
