He will be a weapon that will be abused in the postseason. Everyone knows he can get lefties out. No need to work him too hard in meangingless games.

Same can be said with Avilan.

I mentioned earlier, Ken Rosenthal reported tonight that Brendan Ryan has cleared waivers, he would be another Janish though, great defense no bat.

Better than Janish with the bat and better defensively. Back in 2009 in 429 PA Ryan hit .292/.340/.400. I know it was a long time ago but it still happened.

Ayala doesn't have a deal for 2014. He will only be back if he takes league min.

Gearinn will have to earn his spot back.

Hale could be one of those guys in the mix for sure.

We are going to see someone from AAA/AA start in our pen next year IMO. I would say the pen will look like this:

Kimbrel
Walden
Avilan
Venters
Carpenter
Vavaro
AA/AAA guy

One of Varvaro or Martinez won't be back next year.

I just went back and looked. Tonight was only the 3rd time Avilan has pitched on the homestand and the 1st time since Sunday. So I can understand Fredi using him tonight. Downs has pitched twice on the homestand and last time was Monday.

I thought the same thing but Varvaro had pitched 3 straight games from Saturday-Monday. Tonight was only the 3rd time Carpenter has pitched on the homestand even though he pitched last night.
