GDT 8/14: MAX vs Yankees with “MH2”

There is literally 4 elite hitters in the NL and they play on only 2 teams. It would shock me if one of the Braves or Dodger$ don't make and really win the WS.

Which begs the question, does LA have a better offense than the Braves now? I mean if you wash Acuna/Olson and FF/Betts... Muncy and JD are better than our next best hitters in Riley/Ozuna.. Does Ozzie/MH2/Murph make up that gap enough over JHey/Outman/Smith...
 
Braves are 1st in wrc+, wOBA, off value (fangraphs), ops, slugging, and obp. Basically the braves are #1 in every offensive category. The braves are the best lineup in mlb, not just the NL
 
Out of Riley/Ozuna/Muncy/JD I would take Riley easily amongst those 4. I am not a fan of the type of hitters Muncy and JD are. Muncy batting average is below the Melvin line. Braves are on pace to average 37 home runs from each position that hit 1-7 in the lineup. The Dodgers have 4 positions likely to hit 30+ homers maybe 5. I feel like it makes a big difference that we hit so many homers. How many times have we seen a leadoff double that doesnt score over the years. I love me some high batting average hitters like Freeman but home runs are guaranteed runs on the board. You can hit 8 doubles in a game and score 1-2 runs. You have to rely on stringing hits together. I also think having so many home run hitters starting from the first batter really stresses a starting pitcher. Traditionally a pitcher can make a mistake to the top 2 hitters and they might hit a single or a double. They make a mistake to Acuna or Albies and its hit 400+ feet. I think it really helps the guys lower down in the order like Arcia and Harris. I am a big OBP guy but its hard to drive in runs with a walk. The Braves as a team hit for a much better batting average. We still have a better OBP but its not a significant advantage. Braves as a team are hitting .275 which is absurd. Only the Rangers are close at .272. The next best is .262.

Ozuna should not be paired with Riley as our next best hitters...

I was just using xwOba.. which says he is .. although, when I knocked my qualifer down, Murph did sneak in there.. I think having Murph be a 50% player makes him easier to forget how good he is/been.

I also think the Braves are the best offensive team.. But the Dodger$ are still very very dangerous.

Need to hold off LA for the top seed, given how bad the Braves generally are playing in LA.
