GDT: 8/15/14 BRAVES VS A'S

Seeing a difference in body language and the on field intangibles the last four games. Hope it keeps up. Got about six weeks and cannot afford to lose another series.

We definitely turned it up in the grit maturity leadership and clutchness departments.

They're young. When things go well early they all feed off of it. Likewise, when they get pounded for a while they stay down.

This team needs a 1991 TP-style veteran leader - preferably in CF or at 3B. Hopefully Wren can make that happen in the offseason.

I don't really buy all this leadership talk. Yes it helps to have some veterans in the clubhouse, but when the team had a historical collapse there were Hudson, Chipper, and McCann around and that didn't make a single difference.

These guys have all been playing the game their entire lives. It's a cop out to say they lack leadership. You don't have to be a 10 year player to be labeled a leader. Quit making these excuses.

I'm seem to be one of the few here, but I love Carpenter. The guy isn't Walden or Kimbrel, but he's very solid.

With Simmons out, Carpenter should have been our seventh inning guy all along. Glad Fredi has moved him to that job.

I think you misunderestimate the importance of grit maturity leadership and clutchness.
