GDT 8/16/15 vs AZ (Shelby vs. De Rosa)

Man, Bourn nailed that one but Inciarte showed why he's saved so many runs in CF in recent years. Great catch.

While the ump missed what should've been a called third strike on Gomes, at least he missed it several times for Shelby Miller earlier in the game.

Yep. Two out of the three walks Miller gave up should have been Ks instead.

As trite as it's become, I can live with an umpire with a slightly skewed strike zone but strikes and balls have to be the same in the first and ninth inning and they have to be the same for both teams. That's not been the case today.

By "slightly skewed," I'm not talking Eric Gregg bad. I'll carry the scars of that travesty against the Marlins in 1997 to my grave.

Braves Rube #1: Hey pal. I hear the Braves gave Miller a bunch of lousy jockstraps when spring training started.

Braves Rube #2: I hadn't heard that.

Braves Rube #1: Oh yeah. They don't give him any support.

Shame on me. I saw we were in extras before I left the house and assumed we lost because the thread was only 3 pages and I didn't see an elephant on a trampoline... not to mention I saw "this umpire sucks" and assumed we got hosed on some strike 3 calls.

It was a tough win. Hope the team can rebound tomorrow.

I have no idea where to throw it, so I'm putting it in here. But Julio (knock on wood) has looked pretty solid over the last month. Do you think he's getting that confidence back and turning a corner?

August: 19.2 innings, 17 hits, 6 ER, 0 homer, 3 BB, 17 K, 2.75 ERA.

And his ERA was sitting at 3.94 in July.

Not excellent or anything, but better.

If he just gets his control/command back he'll be fine. The stuff is still there, but for whatever reason he has just missed his spots this season.
