GDT 8-16: Braves at Guardians

I hate sports. I know it’s virtually impossible for the Braves to do the miraculous but I also can’t root for them to lose even if it would make for an exciting draft pick. But let’s face it, AA will draft someone we are all unhappy with and they probably won’t work out in the end like Kyle Wright. So let’s root for most improbable run in MLB history. Sorry… I’m a little wine drunk getting our house ready to sell.
 
We can still pull for Drake to get enough playing time to win the ROY though. We still have that to hold onto and criticize Snit over.😀
 
This team is going to win 80 games, never be within shouting distance of the playoffs, and end up picking 15th…meaning the pick won’t be protected from signing a FA with a QO attached. It’s quite literally the worst case non-competitive season.

I like to think this braves team is good, too. They've certainly made me question this belief

Their rotation consist of Eric F’n Fedde, 5 ERA Elder, Waldrep who has been good for 3 starts, smoke and mirrors Joey Wentz, and the ghost of Spencer Strider.
 
it isn’t the games out as much as the number of teams they have to pass. That is what is going to make it impossible. Every loss by the Braves is assured ground loss to at least two teams ahead of you.
 
85 would probably be the absolute minimum amount of wins it would take. That means they have to go 30-9. Here's what the other teams have to do to get to 85:
Mets - 20-19
Reds - 21-17
Cardinals - 24-14
D'Backs - 25-13
Giants - 26-13
Marlins - 27-12
 
I suspect what will happen is the Braves will continue to play on a heater for the rest of the month, even hold their own in Philly. The reality check will come in September when they play 12 straight games against the Cubs, Mariners, and Astros to open the month.
 
They aren't gonna make the playoffs, but they are gonna put a hurting on some teams trying to get in.
