GDT 8/16- Robbie and the 2 Hole !!

Markakis and his excellent OBP should be at the top vs RHP.

Acuna RF
Freeman 1B
Markakis LF
Ozuna DH
d’Arnaud C
Albies 2b
Swanson SS
Camargo 3B
Inciarte CF

AA needs a better option at 3b vs RHP, and he doesn’t need to be an everyday option...just a platoon bat.

Then vs LHP swap out Inciarte for Duvall, maybe put a catcher at DH, and move Ozuna to LF, and move Albies to the 3 hole.

Acuna CF
Freeman 1B
Albies 2B
Ozuna LF
d’Arnaud DH
Duvall RF
Swanson SS
Flowers C
Camargo 3B

Inciarte doesn't really need to play against anyone.

Snit is too stupid to make this work. Since Markakis did so well last night, wouldn’t surprise me to see him bat cleanup the rest of the season (vs lefties and righties most likely). He did say he liked Freeman in the 2-hole when there’s a DH, not when he could be batting 2 batters after the pitcher, so unless the DH is here to stay, this is a temporary option for Snit. And once Acuna and Albies return you know they’ll be right back in the 1 and 2 holes.

It's getting hard to defend him, and he seems injured. I have no info to say he is, so until then I would have to assume this is a poor 60 PA stratch.

I mean, Riley has a .517 OPS over 65 PAs and is still being run out there everyday while Culberson sits the bench. Camargo is sporting a nose ring and a .631 OPS over 68 PAs and is still playing every single day while Hech rots on the bench. Duvall has a .281 OBP overall, and a .612 OPS vs RHP, and somehow he is the "everyday guy" now.

Why are those putrid numbers allowed to play, but Ender's .552 OPS vs RHP too terrible to play? Why is Ender's leash shorter than Duvall's and Camargo's and Riley's?
What's different? Is he hurt? If so, why is he here?

Why is logical consistency completely lost on Snit?

I’m thinking Ender isn’t hurt as much as he is damaged. He had a lot of soft tissue injuries last year. Could easily have drained his speed and the explosion in his first step.

The Braves have 10 qualified sprinters (defined as 10+ sprint events).

2020 sprint speed vs 2019 sprint speed (27.0 ft/s is MLB average):

Acuna 29.0 vs 29.4
Swanson 28.3 vs 28.7
Albies 27.9 vs 28.6
Duvall 27.7 vs 28.7
Ozuna 27.1 vs
Riley 26.9 vs 27.8
Ender 26.1 vs 26.8
Freeman 25.8 vs 26.4
Hech 25.7 vs 27.2
Camargo 24.5 vs 25.6

Literally everyone is running slower in 2020 than in 2019, but none of them are benched.

I see nothing that suggests Ender deserves to be benched moreso than Riley, Camargo or Duvall. I mean, sure, Riley and Duvall have ran into a few HRs, and Camargo has a sweet nose ring and 80 grade swagger, but they've all been just as bad as Ender...with no sign of imminent benching.

Because Pache is the unknown, and people have dreams of grandeur.

Grandeur? Maybe it is just that we actually have this unknown who could replace this black hole. We don’t have that luxury with 3B. So why discuss it. Most here just want to see the hype around the kid. I would love to get a 100 AB sample size for the kid.

Acuna/Duvall might be a better defensive alignment than Inciarte/Acuna.

Duvall/Inciarte at the plate is kind of a wash even with the platoon splits.

Braves have largely been making good choices, so it's possible their internal knowledge is lower on Inciarte even than the public stuff.

Because the other guys you mention are capable of hitting the ball over the fence once a week while Ender's capable of hitting the ball out of the infield once a week.

Not saying it's a good answer, but I'll bet that's his answer if he tells the truth.

You basically just said the same thing.

I agree 100% that a couple early HRs is why those guys are still in the lineup.

You have to believe that Pache not being up is about clock management at this point. Maybe AA just doesn't think 2020 season is worth burning control.

At this point it's roughly 50 games (this year and the start of next year) the Braves need to hold Pache back to get another year. Considering the expanded playoff format this year and the little impact in 2021 I think it's the right call.
