GDT 8/18/21: Braves @ Fish - A Shakeup

unless he’s just truly done, they absolutely have to re-sign him.

I hope he isn’t done. He is having one of his best seasons. Guys got a lot left in the tank. Find an internal option for the 5-8 options next year and give Morton some of Smylys money.

20 million a year should attract him I’d think. Or maybe he’s fine with 15. Who knows.

AA said Anderson is making a rehab start on Tuesday then back after that. So probably back next Sunday vs the Giants. TBD on Sunday's starter right now, i guess it'll be Touki if Anderson's not going. Fried, Smyly, Touki this weekend, then Morton/Ynoa for the Yanks.

Luckily for us Morton wants to stay here or in TB and we can offer the most money. He’d probably take another 1 year deal for around the same money or close. It’s a no brainer imo.

When did he say that? Sunday's SP is TBD according to the website.

Starting against the Orioles would be like starting against a tough AAA lineup.

I dont know how to share tweets but Kris Willis, verified account said this.

"Alex Anthopoulos says that Ian Anderson will make another rehab start Tuesday and if all goes well, he could be slotted back into the rotation after that"

Just seems a bit strange - Anderson's turn would come up Sunday whether he's in Gwinnett or Baltimore. Don't understand why he'd be pushed back to Tuesday if he's going to make his next start in Gwinnett.

FWIW my Twitter account is verified - DOB apparently picked that tweet up an hour ago too. Seems odd that Talking Chop had that 6 hours before the Braves' mouthpieces that DOB and Bowman are had it. I thought there was only a press release about the d'Arnaud extension - did Alex only invite Willis to the press conference?

MLB.com has Touki going Sunday, so apparently Anderson isnt going.

Yeah - they changed it sometime after I posted that. Still seems a bit odd that they plan to push Anderson back to Tuesday though since going Sunday would keep him on regular rest.

I wonder if they plan to juggle the rotation with the two days off to split Fried and Smyly up. If Anderson pitches for Gwinnett on Tuesday, he'd be back on regular rest next Saturday. Unless someone else is coming up to take the second start against the Yankees, the plan just might be for Fried to go on short rest and go again on Tuesday. That would give you Morton and Fried against the Yankees and line them up to take the last two starts against the Giants and the first two starts of the Rockies series.
