GDT: 8/19 Braves Debut Their New aPache

Pache in left and Ender in center is weird given Pache's defense is already elite but oh well, small battles. The outfield defense will be fantastic.

Best defender in the org comes up, so naturally we put him in LF where his defense isn’t nearly as valuable. At least they didn’t stick him at 1B or DH him I guess

Can't upset Ender now, can we?

Pache is only up because Nick went on the COVID list, correct? Not because of Ender's suckage?

Ender is the same hitter he's always been when healthy. He was back to normal last year as well after the back injury healed. Anyone trying to make determinations based on 60 PAs early in the season is being foolish.

Inciarte is currently the best CF option in the organization vs RHP, and has no business seeing a PA vs a LHP. That has been the case from opening day, and that will remain the case as long as he's healthy.

Next year, a 22 year old Pache may very well change that though.

I feel like the question about Ender right now is less about his bat and more about his glove. He hasn’t been playing his normal platinum glove defense this year. If he’s only an average defender now his bat doesn’t really play.

Correct.
If Pache is prime Ender in the field which I expect, whatever little more Ender gives you at the plate isn’t enough to justify Pache being sent back down considering he’s already up and service time is already not a worry

And we are basing this on what? Some sample of 20 games?

Everyone realizes 18 fly balls in total have been hit to Ender this season, right?

They should play if they have a little patience. The worst storms moved out and the light to moderate rain still around should gradually diminish with the loss of daytime heating
