GDT 8/2: And Schwelley is comin’ to breakfast….

Hopefully strider can come back in the future because the talent is starting to percolate a bit in the minors while we still have loaded roster.

Lead is down to 5. Phillies on a 5 game losing streak and still have a tough schedule. They’re gonna choke like the Mets did a few years ago.

How cool would it be if the Dodger$ continued to choke down the stretch and missed the playoffs after spending a billion dollars last offseason. Highly unlikely but something else to pull for this year I guess.

We’ll see. We’ve still got a lot of ground to make up.

Mets didn’t really choke though. We just took it from them.

I hope the Dodgers choke as well- but they will win three in a row next week at Chavez against the West Jersey trash….

We did our part in the first half and thats stay within striking distance after playing a harder schedule, dealing with all the injuries, and having the best offense in baseball last year crap the bed. Now the offense is picking back up and the Phillies schedule gets hard while ours softens. I like our chances moving forward.

Yes indeed. After the next five games I expect ATL to be very close. And from there, we get an easy schedule and they get a pretty brutal one. Just based on schedules alone I think we take them.
And kicking their butts in the head to head games just adds the cushion.
Said differently, if I’m a betting man, my money is on ATL to take them down.

Schwellenbach looks like a freaking dude… just needs to get the homer issue under control (which is likely mostly flukey)

Eh. Homers are a learning curve. That cutter in the first didn’t really cut and it started inside and leaked right over the plate. I can’t imagine that was where he wanted that pitch on a 3-1 count.

If such a higher percentage of this team’s best players didn’t have long injuries this year, the division would once again not even be close. Phillies have over performed all year, Braves under with everyone hurt, and yet the Phillies are up by just 5 games.

Yeah I’m not worried about it… just the only semblance of a wart thus far

Agree. It is so cool that another guy just emerges from this crappy farm and looks poised to put up several WAR a year. I love giving AA crap but in all reality dude is doing something right because it seems every other year a star comes up and shoves

His starts have become must see for me.

It’s refreshing to have a rotation of guys that walk very few batters all the sudden. Shoot… maybe Holmes shoves again today and we’ve found another diamond in the rough

I agree with this. Still a lot of work to do though.

I said it a couple weeks ago that if the Phillies don’t win the division this year, they should fold the organization.
