It must be admitted that similar views though in less extreme form were espoused by our front office. Something about a need build a lineup of tough, intelligent hitters who would battle every at bat rather than swinging blindly (and stupidly it was implied) for the fences.

Man, I had high hopes when I read this post but I just saw the replay and . . . that was a pretty sad dirt-kicking. Sort of a clumsy, perfunctory rake in the general direction of home plate.
 
It was 5-0 in the top of the inning with folty at bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd. We let em hit. Folty gets 2 more outs and gives up 2 more runs

But it's more life than Fredi has shown since he crawled, albeit clumsily, out of the womb. And he fought for Folty, which is something he needs to do more of.

Yeah, but some would argue that Folty would have given up 8 runs if CB were catching. .

At least they've gone all-in on re-building, after deciding to start tearing things down, instead of being Calypso'd into putzing about on the island of pseudo-contention for a few years.
