GDT 8/22/22: Braves @ Pirates - Scrubbing the Odor of Odorizzi

I somehow never appreciated that McLouth was put up a -2.7 bWAR in 2010. That shouldn't even be possible.

Oh for the glory days where you could get a gold glove while being -23 runs on defense.

It still happens. Didn’t Markakis win a gold glove with the Braves a couple years ago? He wasn’t that bad in RF but I’m sure the sabermetrics weren’t very kind to him.

McClouth wasn’t close to as good as Reynolds at the plate. His career OPS+ prior to the trade was 106. Reynolds is 127.

Well I may be in the minority and that's fine. Trading Grissom would be a huge mistake.

Take out the one obvious anomaly year and those numbers would be a whole lot closer to McClouth... granted he's certainly a better defender

The metrics had him a hair above average that year, and over his whole career he was slightly above average. Nate McLouth was a bad fielder who got the GG during an especially bad year, which is a true feat.

Or you can take out the Covid year where he was terrible.

.880 OPS
.632 (Covid)
.912
.808

He’s good my dude.

Like…what’s the approach here tonight? Especially for our fckn RH hitters…aside from Acuna…come the Fck on

Never said he wasn't good. But Grissom is and will be better

This year in 105 games: Reynolds 1.8 fWAR
12 games: Grissom 1.0 fWAR

He's not gonna keep playing out of his mind but his walk/k rates are legit as a 21 year old. He's got an incredibly mature approach

Odorizzi has done what he needed to do against a bad offense. Our offense, meanwhile, is lollygagging, and we'll have to sweat it out.

Mets are going to be in big trouble if Scherzer continues you slide he’s on…Their offense isn’t consistent enough to bail out bad starts.
