GDT 8/23/22: Braves @ Pirates - Maxing out for Max

We have the Cardinals and Rockies coming up and the Mets have the Rockies and Dodgers so I think they have it a lot worse than we do coming up over the next week. Cardinals aren’t as good as us.

Cardinals are on a heater (like us) and will be at home. That’s going to be a tough series. Hopefully the boys take care of business again.

What really sucks is the Mets just wrapped up their season series with the Phillies. Braves still have 7 to go against them and Harper will be back for those games.

Knebel done though and Dominguez on IL, so their pen could be about to fall apart

I am still wondering why in the world Acuna didn't even run when he was at first during our big inning. He literally didn't even move a step toward second when the ball was hit. I've never seen anything like it.

It was in the air so he froze in case he had to run back to 1b.

From my perspective live, it was nowhere near being caught and was clear off the bat that it wouldn't be. Even once it hit the ground, he just stayed rooted in one place until they threw to second for the out. It was strange.

If you're talking about the squibber Dansby hit, on TV it looked like if the second baseman made enough effort it could have been caught in the air and throw back to first DP.

It didn't seem that way to me, but they certainly could've thrown to first before second and gotten Acuna easily. He was going to be out regardless and it didn't end up being a big deal, but it looked like he didn't even register that the ball was in play.

We really need to get a few games ahead before that final Mets series.
Our schedule gets tougher after that and Mets play one of the easiest.
Tiebreaker is gonna wreck us if we don’t sweep that last series.
Sucks they don’t have a one game playoff anymore in case of a tie.

Their September schedule is downright embarrassing for baseball. 2 teams over .500 in September, Brewers and us at the end of the month.

Yeah mentioned that as well. Schedule really isn’t working in our favor when compared to Mets.

It is what it is. As long as we are playing well I think we have a great shot at the repeat.

The Phillies are a solid squad but I'm not worried about facing them, not even in the slightest, honestly. Harper will get his but the season series is tied 6-6 and two of the Phillies last three wins against Atlanta have come from scrubs who got to our bullpen. That's very rarely going to happen and I don't count on it happening again.

teams are going to lose when they should be winning against bad team. What is the Dodger's record against the pirates... Didn't the Faillies get sunk by the Fish last year... The Mets are going to loose a 3 game stretch that makes you scratch your head. The Braves might do that as well. We just need to stay close for that last series.
