GDT 8/23: Charlie and the boys throw it one last time again!

It needs to be a team like the Indians who have an immediate need for MLB bats with MLB pitching to trade. I think he fits well as a light hitting 2B for a contender, but that’s obviously not an option in Atlanta.

The unpopular option could be to flip Albies for a massive haul and hand 2B over to Grissom. What type of package would that take, and does any realistic package even make sense?

You’re getting too cute here. You don’t trade your almost free 4 WAR 2B unless some other GM is drunk or high or both. And as you’ve pointed out 16 different ways, Grissom is not and probably never will be as good as some people might think he is.

Pillar hasn't been that bad of a platoon guy.

Snit just doesn't know how to use him.

What’s the beef? He starts Rosario against every righty and Pillar against the lefties. Occasionally he puts in the other guy if the pitching handedness flips and occasionally he subs Pillar in late for defense.

What is Snit not doing that you think he should? Even if you think Snit is of average-ish intelligence, platooning left fielders isn’t exactly string theory.

If you’re bitching about him hitting second, you’re right. But so what? We know that’s a quantifiable small error.

Pillar didn't get a start for 2 months because lack of LHP starters.

Pillar should be used as a defensive replacement for Eddie (or Hilliard). And he should be used to give the occasional day off to the three outfielders even if there isn't a lefty scheduled to start against us.

10-3 to finish off the 2023 season against the Metropolitans. I don't care how bad they are, those numbers are still sweet.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but these are first world problems. It’s pretty clear that the culture of the franchise is to play every day if you can. Harris and Acuña are doing that. So our short side platoon outfielder doesn’t get enough time. Okay.

I kind of marvel at what a **** manager this board perceives Snit to be (and no, he’s not my cousin). He’s about to manage his sixth straight division winner and has won a World Series. The team’s winning percentage is around .600 for that period, despite having a retarded manager.

The clubhouse has always been harmonious under him, which is a much bigger deal than lineup construction or how and when you deploy your three non-catcher backups.

Even if he ****ed Cy’s mom I’d say he’s done a pretty good job with this club since he got it. I mean, he’s not the genius Tony LaRussa is, but he seems to bumble along pretty successfully despite the drool that comes with being a mouth breather.

Well said.

X 1000

But the narrative that Snit can barely tie his own shoes makes intellectually lazy people feel better about themselves. Fans simply aren't privy to enough actual information about players' health and psychological situations to comment about manager moves with confidence.

The Braves have arguably the best coaching staff (front office too) in the game and Snit brings them back year after year. I don't care what he does. His results speak for themselves.

Such a great post from you Runnin’ …. Like always.

A voice of actual reason around here.

I used to visit forums for every team. The one thing they all had in common was they thought their manager was am idiot and holding the team back. It's just a fact of life they won't coach the way you personally want them to. If we let fans choose there would be a new manager every month.

If the Braves play .500 ball the rest of the way, they would win 100 games.

The Phillies would have to go 32-3 (.914) to win the division.
