LOL now Minter gets in when the game is bleak...

Yes, let's use dinosaurs like Johnson and Motte in a lost year instead of getting someone like Minter in tougher situation who could help in future years when the team is contending.

He should be fired before September 1st, so we can get a good look at the rookies rather than the old guys

Screw that. He should be fired before tonight's post game press conference. Let somebody take it who is more knowledgable of this team--perhaps one of the grounds crew.

I'm not too down on Snit for using Jim Johnson there. If the guy is so terrible that he cant be used in a close game when your pen is taxed, then he doesn't need to be in the pen. If Ramirez or Viz had been fresh then bringing in Johnson there would be unforgivable. But you can't expect to have a guy like Johnson in the pen and have good results. Either you're managing a man down and have to overuse guys or you have to run Johnson out in situations you'd rather not.

The bigger issue is Johnson being there in the first place. Signing him to a two year deal was a huge blunder. Without that guaranteed money next year he'd be gone already.

I expect he'll go on the DL today with some mysterious ailment and be activated in September when the expanded roster gives us more flexibility to use him when the game's out of hand. This gives the Braves a chance to give him a look in ST.

You're upset with his using Johnson. OK, fair. But if he had gone with Ramirez and Viz again, would you have ripped him for using his guys too much?

Snit will tell you he is going to war with the weapons he is provided. So long as Johnson is healthy and in the pen, it's not like he can not use him. This is on the F.O. for continuing to force him on us, not Snit for having to use him.

Very few managers, old or new school, is going to throw a rookie into a save situation from Day One -- especially if the rookie has not been a closer.

We would not have seen Viz in the ninth. Snit said he'd decided to give those guys the day off.
