GDT 8/24/14: wrapping up Reds with Harang vs. Simon

Stella! continues to drive in runs. No clue (outside of Fredi being Fredi) why that kid is getting jerked around.

They had some significant dry spells. We won a lot of games with a nearly untouchable bullpen.

CJ had a solid year last year as well. We also had McCann.

Lineup is at it's best when it's Heyward/Justin/Freddie in top 3.....but......

We've had improvements from LF, CF, RF, 2B, and C from last year.

Significant drop off at 3b and slight drop from ss

Freeman is about the same.

The difference is the power has disappeared

Which drives home my point. You have to be able to score runs in multiple ways. Can't just wait for home runs all the time.

BJ had his head in the third base dugout again on one of those swings.

It's one of three things.

1. Walker/Fletcher have not worked with him at all.
2. Walker/Fletcher have worked with him, and he just sucks.
3. Walker/Fletcher have tried to work with him, and he just doesn't care.

And he has been jerked around this entire month.

He's a professional hitter. I am sorry I don't buy the excuse that him getting moved around in the lineup or whatever is a reason why he's been terrible. Your job is to hit the ball. End of story.

Probably 2 and 3.

Hitters go through slumps. Fredi usually keeps playing them, though. Right, BJ?

BJ. Uggla. CJ. Freeman. The list goes on. Stella! didn't even really go in a slump before getting his time cut.

May - .333 .429 .333 .762

June - .276 .351 .357 .708 (cooled off a little, but still a fantastic OBP)

July - .309 .381 .372 .753 (hot again, loses his job in the first half of August)

Which begs the question, why do we need hitting coaches?

Yet you go on and on about Simmons in the two hole?

He's hit better there than anywhere else in the lineup. Tommy has shown he's a better hitter than Simmons. Not sure that is relevant here. I guess it makes sense to hit a player in a spot that he has performed better at.

You literally just said:
