GDT 8/24: Maxwell goes for 15

Even when he looks wrong for a bit it seems his moves make more sense later. I think the MM move had a lot to do with his success vs the Dodgers. AA knows they are the team to beat.

Yeah wupk said he has a sub-1 ERA vs the Dodgers in his last 30 games vs them or so. I still dont like the move since it most likely hurts our payroll next year to add/keep key pieces but it makes sense in that way you said.

If we're gonna win the NL, gonna have to get through them.

Picking up Cervelli, Hechy, and Hamilton post deadline was really a pretty sweet bit of front office work.

Interesting that we do not seem to have had much competition for their services. In some ways we were lucky they became available at a time injuries to regulars created a positional need.

Yeah, it's kind of weird how the right pieces have hit the market at the right time.

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for the Nats and their fans to be dominating everyone for so long, and still can't make a dent in the standings.

Their reward will be a 1 game playoff and best case, a trip to LA

1 game against the best pitcher in baseball

All of a sudden the prospects of having Greene/MM next year is promising.

AA is starting to build a resume as one of the top GMs in the sport.

isn't it scary when we agree totally? lol

Hamilton mentioned interest in him besides Atlanta, that might explain AA taking the contract rather than waiting till he was released.

Feel bad for Diaz being booed while coming out of the game with an injury. However, when you sign for the big bucks in New York, you have to know what's going to happen when you don't meet the fans (usually unrealistic) expectations.

To be fair he was traded from the Mariners
