GDT - 8/29/14 - Marlins at Braves

Kimbrel throws 96 to 100mph, but control has been a big issue for him this season. He is not the Kimbrel of the last 3 years. I agree with what someone said earlier. We have him on a 4 year contract. Get him into the midway point of next season, and quietly make him available to a select few teams that are desperate for bullpen help. If the market isnt there and the package isn't right, you don't have to trade him. But a package for the games top closer could add a few pieces that could help us for a few years

Because of more walks?

Kimbrel has set the bar so high that it's not really fair to expect what he did the last 2 years every year. His worst season was a 2.10 era. The scary thing is his velocity has increased almost 2 mph since he got to the majors.

Yeah. It's not obvious, because the numbers are still there, but he's spraying it around a bit this year. The idea of quietly making him available if the package back is stout is a pretty good one, taking emotion out of it.

So I guess giving up less homers doesn't matter? 2012 is a year that won't be duplicated by anyone in the near future. It was a remarkable season. He is having a better year right now than he did last year.

I'm with you if we can add Fredi in with the trade.
