Forgotten by whom? Think of all the people he has to talk to/face every day and wonder what they think of him. Anxiety is real. It’s easy to say “just shake it off man” when you didn’t have stupid things you said when you were younger plastered all over the internet for millions of people to dissect and draw conclusions about you.
 
A split of a two game series with a team coming in on an 8 game winning streak is fine. Let’s grab the Cubs by the throat though.
 
The thing with Newk is when he's good, he is lights out good. But when he's bad - like yesterday- it is just horrible. Great pitchers know when they don't have their best stuff and throw to contact with changing speeds. That limits damage and eats innings. What Newk does is try to force it and be perfect even when he obviously doesn't have it. My take is that he can still develop into something brilliant, but he has to learn how to adjust when he doesn't have his A game. Otherwise, he is just lost and looks like a disaster. I think he needs a week off to just rest. I still feel like he has so much potential to be super dominant and the organization is going to be very patient with him. I think the fans should be too.

Believe me. I understand anxiety. I just really thought of this as a minor story that got blown out of proportion and then went away. However I do wish the people who put the story out there would stop dead. It never should have been news news worthy.

I’m trying to remember. Did we hear an asking price on Yelich? I would have thought they would have asked for Acuna or Alvie’s which I wouldn’t have done.

yes. they asked for acuña. we didn't do that, thankfully. i believe they wouldn't move off it. so i don't know what he's talking about.

We could have come up with a package that didn't include Acuna. They traded freaking Brinson. I know he was a top prospect in the minors but we could have easily matched without Acuna.

Unfortunately, no we couldn't have. They were demanding a #1 prospect for him from any team and weren't budging down from that. Brinson is a lesser deal than non 1s for us, but it was give me your top guy or no deal period from Jeter.

Here's the hilarious thing about it. Miami wanted Robles for Realmuto (continuing the we want top guys only thing), Washington tried to get them to take Soto and they laughed at them. Whoops!

and brinson was coming off a great season.
 
Id skip Newk twice through the rotation, and move forward with two young AAA guys if possible for those turns. Looked as if Velo was down a few ticks on the fb.

He's had two great starts since then, including his first one after all that came out.

He's also been up and down all year. This is just who he is right now.

I like Newk moving forward and see no reason why he doesn't get every opportunity to succeed, as he's shown he can definitely be a solid MLB pitcher, but Touki specifically needs to be added to the rotation yesterday.
