GDT 8/30/14 Braves vs Marlins Harang vs Cosart

I have been okay with Simmons hitting second in the past but even I was against it lately. Simmons has failed too often in that spot with the game in key spots to continue using him up there. But Fredi is going to be Fredi...
 
the most frustrating part is that our hotstreaks start out of nowhere, for whatever reason our hitters put together great at bats.....but you can tell sometimes 3 games out that we are about to hit a level of absolute suckage that makes no sense

Simmons should never bat second. He's our second worst hitter.

Minor is no stranger to finishing the season strong after a poor first half. Hopefully he keeps it up with the Smoltz like dominate second half the rest of the way too. If he does I'd probably want him to start the Wild Card game if we get in and face the Giants. He has pitched well vs them over his career and he also won his only playoff game last year too.

It would be really hard not to start Julio in that play in game but... If Julio is not avaliable then Minor has shown that he can pitch in pressure packed games (nlds game 2) and he is the only braves starter who has shown he can handle the pressure including Wood. Best case scenario for us is to win the play in game and face the gnats in the nlds I want no part of the dodgers.

Which is less dumb than some of the other options Fredi goes with, but not the best choice. Don't you want your best hitters to get the most at-bats? Justin is in the running for MVP and yet was getting less at-bats than his brother earlier in the season. Now he is getting less at-bats than the likes of Gosselin and Boni (and Simmons some nights).

Not to place the blame for getting shutout on Harang but in games where our starters give up 3 or 4 runs early we have almost no chance to come back. We win when our starters don't give up early runs when they do the offense looks lost and scared

If you want justin in the two hole go back to hitting the pitcher 8th and using bonafacio as a 2nd lead off hitter

you can tell by the 4th inning if it is a win or a loss
