GDT 8/31/23: Braves vs Dodgers - Third times the charm

We just need to win 1 of these next 3

That's probably going to have to happen tomorrow with Fried putting it together, although we tend to have trouble with Urias. I don't think Elder will make it out of the third or fourth inning and don't know that Morton will fare much better.

Yeah, both of Mookie’s were wallscrapers. I honestly thought Ronnie was going to get to the three-run jack

The three run jack never happens if the ump (on appeal) correctly calls the checked swing for what should've been a third strike. (Yeah, those are my Braves goggles I'm wearing.)

Dodgers with all the luck possible still couldn't quite beat us in their park. Good win.

Or: The Dodgers came up just short, despite the most lopsided pitching matchup in our favor.

Yet, no reason to be negative. We beat the hottest team in baseball in their stadium, despite most of the in-game breaks going their way. And a genuinely terrible ump.

Our young pitchers, Strider included, have to battle through that and not hang a horrible pitch. It’s not the first time.

That was the first time in a while that the Braves played a true back-and-back game with a playoff feel to it. Usually, Atlanta either dominates or wins a close one, but it’s not often like what we just experienced. It got me absolutely hype

God, a 40/70 season would be just unreal. Bigger bases or not, that's a feat not likely to ever be repeated.

Honestly, how much difference do the bigger bases make? Logically, it seems pretty marginal.

What I think makes a bigger difference is the two-throwover rule.

Last time it felt like this year was against the Reds, imo. That was an epic series for what should have been a run of the mill regular season series.

The Reds were playing their best baseball of the season at the time, kind of like the Dodgers are now.

I'll be disappointed if this isn't the NLCS matchup again. Clearly the best two teams in the NL again.
