Wrapping up August:
The Braves are 57-24 in their last 81 games. 21-6 June, 18-8 July, 18-10 August.
The Mets are 50-31 in their last 81 games.
The Dodgers are also 57-24 in their last 81 games.
The Yankees were 58-23 in their first 81 games this season.
I think the bottom line here is that there is only so much a team can do to catch up - I mean, this is 1993 levels of winning, and you have to have the other team win to more normal levels to have a chance. If the Mets were on pace for 92 wins and not 100 in these last three months, we would be leading the division.

Like I’ve said before, the only reason we won’t win the division is because of how big of a hole we put ourselves in during the first two months. That’s it. Braves have played better than any team can ever be expected to play since then.

The problem is the Mets are 50-31... and that's really ****ing good. lol it's not really "choking," the Braves are just trying to wrangle the division away from them with a nearly impossible run.
