GDT: 8-4-13 Braves at Phillies (Brooms Ready)

this is precisely why replay suck. huge delay only to blatantly get the call wrong. ****ing horrible. i'd go nuts if i were fredi.

That was ridiculous...they already told the Braves on Utley's homer that the person hand has to come in front of the rail to count as a reach over. That fans hand never went below the rail.

It's close so they will give it to the phillies to be fair since they overturned Ruiz's homerun

Ruiz's hit clearly bounced in front of the screen. B.J.'s was interfered with in the air and looked like it could, at the very least, bounce on the railing at the top of the screen. The call on the field was HR, there wasn't conclusive enough evidence in my opinion to overturn, but they did.

Didn't look definitive from the angle we saw, but maybe the umps had a better replay angle.

When people like you act like he's the worst defender in all of baseball and use those stupid advanced stats as your reasoning then yeah I think it's not a bad standard to use. Chipper wasn't a horrible defender either, he made a lot of good plays for us. If Johnson is as good as Chipper was defensively then I'm ok with that. I don't care what his UZJFKEIDKEIE is.

Chipper was a below average at best defender when his career came to a close. He did things well like charging choppers, but he had little range. But Chipper was a total HOF caliber amazing hitter, Chris Johnson isn't that level of hitter so he doesn't get the pass that Chipper did. Again, watch the best make plays. Chris JOhnson can't do that.

Exactly what I'm trying to say. It was so close, the call went against the Braves, as usual on close calls.

I thought it was the right call. You could tell the fan was in front of the fence and it only went over after it hit the fans hand. Would have liked it to have been a HR but can't be mad at the call.

MLB should mandate a minimum distance between fence and fans. No more questions then. I know some ballparks would have to be grandfathered in.

Why compare him to gold glove caliber players? Nobody is saying he's that caliber a defender.

Everyone knows his range is limited but he still fields the balls he can get to. There is nothing he can do about his lack of range.

Exactly. Fans shouldn't be close enough to the line to interfere with the play.

You my friend should get your eyes checked. If Upton's wasn't a homer tonight, Utley's wasn't on Friday.
