GDT 8/5/2013 Braves vs Nationals

This is true. But throughout much of May and June they were finding ways to win despite not hitting.

Agreed. The pitching was great and they were fortunate enough to benefit from hot stretches of guys they weren't counting on (Gattis/Schafer).

But overall, the teams strength sits with the pitching as it always has. The bullpen is again one of the best if not best in baseball and the starting rotation is starting to feature some legitmate ace type pitchers.

Can't wait for a devastating 4-3 loss in which we lead 3-2 late in the game to bring you guys back to "I don't know if this team has what it takes" mode. Or a 2 game losing streak to the Marlins or Mets in September.

Bite me you bastard.

May you rot....

BTW, I would bat Simmons higher vs Gio tomorrow. Simmons pretty much owns Gio so I'd want him getting as many AB's against him as possible.

I would probably bat Simmons second vs Gio.

Not 2.

I'd go...

Heyward

JUp

FF

Mac

CJ

Simba

Uggla

BJ

Pitching is fine. We dont' have Kershaw or Wainwright but we also don't really have a weakness

Our pitchers FIPs

Minor - 3.15
Julio - 3.61
Medlen - 3.93
Wood - 2.98
Beachy - 6.04

For xFIP

Minor - 3.51
Julio - 3.67
Medlen - 3.82
Wood - 3.07
Beachy - 3.93

If Beachy is back to pre-surgery form and if by some chance Wood stays strong we'll have some tough choices.

What were Hudson's numbers?

We're going to really miss Huddy.

He was pitching really well until he went down, such a shame.

No, that was a good percentage gamble. Desmond was heads up.

Zimmerman wasn't at third.

Uggla took off too late.

Damon did the same thing vs Philly in the WS a few years ago on a similar play. Even still, a good risk to take.

3.45/3.56.

His numbers obviously aren't bad, but it's time to move on.

You missed my point. I was pretty sure that Huddys numbers were pretty much in line with the others. Although I would rather have him than not, we can find 3-4 starters for the playoffs pretty easily without him.

I would let Hudson walk and put Medlen's name out and see if anyone will over pay for him.

Build around Minor, Teheran, Beachy

And Wood if his mechanics hold up.

If Mac walks, I'd dip into the FA market for another SP.

Agreed but I think Wood is going to be in the rotation at the start of the year. I would like to see Cody Martin get a shot but if Wood is going to be in the rotation next year I see the braves going after a veteran on a one year deal hoping for a bounce back. Guys I would be interested in on a 1-2 year deal:

Bedard
Haren
Hughes
Josh Johnson (1 year)
Kuroda (too expensive probably)
Nolasco

Kuroda seems like he will go back to Japan or stay in NY.

For a one year deal, Kuroda would be awesome, he's been amazing this year. Not that we'd get him.

Haren, Hughes would be interesting on a one year deal. I'd just bring back Huddy if the money is ok.

Nolasco probably reups with LA.

I think we will see Gattis catching tonight

Heyward
JUpton
Freeman
Gattis
Johnson
Uggla
Upton
Simmons

I bet ya 100 bucks

I doubt it.

Mac loves catching Julio, I'd figure he catches tonight. Want him catching every time Julio starts.

Cash or Check?

I just got around to reading the full article. Did the Washington Post fire all their copy-editors?

After Amazon bought them, they just moved some of the people who proof read self-published novels (a trend of which, despite this joke I am a fan) over to the news division.
