GDT 8/5/22: Braves @ Mutts - Big Night For Anderson

I know this is sarcasm, but actually we really just needed to win one to stay in it now that I think about it. A sweep would've wiped us out of the east race.

From my perspective, two wins in the series are a must. Anything less and the Mets will not see the Braves as a legit threat.

Snit announced Odorizzi will make his debut in Game 1 tomorrow while Max pitches at night. Poor Jake gets the ****ty ass day game lineup

Jackson and yates up? Jackson down Sunday?

That makes good sense. Anderson isn't needed and is a millstone around the neck of the pitching staff. Sending Anderson down is a great chance to freshen up the pen while not missing out on anything. With Odorizzi in the staff, Anderson is pretty useless.

And we won’t even need him for next weekend’s doubleheader because we have two off days during the week with the two-gamer at Boston.

Yeah, hate it for Ian, but he needs to go down. I said earlier in the thread, I'd send em down to work on a 3rd pitch to continue starting or move him to relief and let em air out his fastball with that devastating change

We can't bring up Jackson though... he was up for game 3 vs Philly. It would have to be someone else

He could actually be a weapon in the pen for the postseason if he focused on that. Chances keep looking slimmer that Soroka will be any kind of a factor.

Contreras needs to be the main catcher next year with D'arnaud getting a good chunk of starts. He looks good behind the plate as well. Looks like a legit above average catcher.
Night and day defense...offense wasn't a question for me. Really happy we kept him.

I heard on the radio just yesterday that Mike was going to start throwing sim games in the next day or so- maybe something with that changed ?

Yeah but even after his simulated games, he's going to need 4-6 starts in rehab. That would be towards the end of September probably. Dude's going to be rusty even if the health stuff works out perfectly... he hasn't pitched since the very start of 2020.

Why on earth hasn't a move been announced? Option Ian now. I really expected to hear something by now. If you really want to go six man, give Kyle Muller an opportunity.
