GDT 8/6/13: Braves (Teheran) @ Nationals (Gonzalez) 7:05 PM

Underrated approach
If you think about it, it makes tons of sense.

McCann has 23 career stolen bases. I've been furious that Bobby and Freddy haven't let him run more... Uggla can walk so you know his OBP means he's going to get on base. If he K's, that's better than hitting into a double play. Simmons doesn't K that much, so he either hits a linedrive at someone, or hits a popup on the infield letting the runners advance on the infield fly. BJ can hit a bomb or drop a bomb. Pick your poison. Also has speed so that counts for something I guess. Heyward hitting 5th is like him hitting 2nd or leadoff because he can get on base in the 2nd inning as the leadoff man when BJ K's to end the inning. He can get on base for Hugs. CJ's BA is moot, so if Heyward and Hugs are on, he can make contact and hit a sac fly. Then you have Justin hitting 8th, 3-run homerun potential. With the pitcher hitting after, he's likely to see A LOT of pitches.

It would make sense to play Gattis tonight and McCann tomorrow, but I guess Fredi's aversion to Gattis catching his fellow rookie overrides that.
