Saw on rotoworld where Davey Johnson is considering moving Zimmerman off 3rd. Ouch. Throwing issues have continued longer than expected I guess. How long can they wait? Id say til next April at least...

No reason to let up now. Guys will get a lot of rest the last month of the season, so Im glad our normal lineup is in there today.

Surprised to see both McCann and Heyward in there today

Sounded like Heyward just had a stinger. I mean they hurt like hell and I've seen grown ass men paralyzed for a few seconds from intense ones but they don't really have any lasting effect after a few hours.

Surprised Paul Janish isn't in there.

You know, just in case there's a fight or something.

He should. I don't know why Simmons/BJ/Heyward aren't bunting every time. He can't put anything on his throws. Its embarrassing.

Here's the full Rotoworld piece, which is interesting since LaRoche is signed through next year:

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said after Tuesday's game that Ryan Zimmerman's struggles at third base could lead to him switching to first base.

Zimmerman's throwing has been an issue following offseason shoulder surgery and Johnson thinks a move to first base could be beneficial if he doesn't improve. "I knew it was going to take until June, but obviously it’s taken longer," said Johnson. "It’s more about him–if you see him throw early, he throws deeper and throws the ball on line. But I don’t know if it’s physical or mental. Because I see him throw pretty good, and in the game he’ll want to get a lot of air under it. If that doesn’t get better, then obviously it’s not a good spot for him to be in. But at one time, he had a cannon. And we’re all waiting for him to come back and get over it." The Nationals have Adam LaRoche under contract for $14 million next season, but a position change for Zimmerman is probably inevitable, especially since third base is where most expect Anthony Rendon will end up in the long-term.

I think he has Chuck Knoblauch syndrome. I think they need to get him memorizing playboy likes, dislikes, turnons and turnoffs.

This just happened recently right? Like last year?

If it was physical you'd think the Nats would've done something by now.

Where's gilesfan at? He'd know for sure.

He injured his shoulder about 2 years ago. Tried to get by with cortizone shots and it didn't work. Had surgery in the offseason. They thought his arm would be healthy by mid-June, but although it's been getting better, it's not fully healed.

Its absolutely physical. I dont' watch the Nationals often but the last two nights he is throwing sidearm and putting a lot of arc on the ball. I seriously don't understand why we aren't bunting more. I feel like that would be an easy way to get a man on.

Probably because we're balls awful at it.

"If another routine ground ball lands 15 rows in the grandstands, I'm sending your ass home. So I suggest you make your throws. Or, I suggest you invest in some how-to books and find a fallback profession, understood. "

It was physical and I think it is mental now. Even Davey Johnson says "It’s more about him–if you see him throw early, he throws deeper and throws the ball on line.
