GDT 8/7/22: Braves @ Mutts - Series Finale

I’m so sick of mlb putting bases directly in front of Mets grounders, and then moving them out of the way of Braves grounders.

Realizing that fortune usually favors the better team, the Mets (highest number of infield hits in MLB) have had more than their share.

Give up the schtick, already.

I’m so sick of mlb putting Vaseline on the warning track so Braves players can’t handle a ball that lets the fattest player in the sport score from 1st, and putting pine tar on the warning track when the Braves are batting so the Mets can throw Acuna out at 3rd with 2 outs.

Their luck has been insane, but again, the difference just could not be more pronounced. When is the last time you saw a Brave put up an at bat anywhere near what Alonso did in order for that play to even happen?

Yesterday. A few times. It didn’t result in batted ball luck. And one of them led to a bogus strike 3 call.

They put more weak balls in play, so they will get more weak base hits

The Braves put more hard hit balls in play, so they have more extra base hits.

All of this is easily verifiable by anyone willing to spend 17 seconds looking it up. There is no mystery here.

Hard not to throw down the middle when your usual pitches over the plate get called balls

I seriously wonder what MLB’s eval process on umpires and what they do to help them improve and hone in their craft…Because it’s progressively getting worse.

Braves going to have to regroup, because the Phils and Padres are coming king on strong.

Braves are 6.5 back from Mets now, and only 3 games ahead of the Phillies. This beech slapping really opened up the Phillies to catching the braves

So we're 6.5 back with six weeks to go. A lot stranger things have happened than the Braves catching up. However, unless the Mets cool off, we start playing better, and we dominate the last seven games against NY in Atlanta, yeah, we're playing for a wild card.
