GDT 8-7: Who’s On Third?

Can definitely deal with wins if they’re happening because Baldwin drives in five runs. Still some uncertainty with our first round draft pick because of the lottery, but there’s no uncertainty about the $3+ million that comes with the PPI pick.

Still don’t see any way a team wouldn’t have given up a 40/45 for a free Iggy. Dude still has stuff to get outs.

Hate not getting value out of him. But good game for ROY. Definitely helped his cause.

He was never getting a 45 guy. No one ever said he was. He probably wasn't getting a 40 guy either. But he probably could have gotten a reliever on some teams AAA team who might have a chance of contributing.

Baldwin went from -160 to -200 to win the ROY after his game last night. Collins sitting at +155. Third place is the Marlins catcher at +1500.

I don't like that Collins will be in meaningful games. If the braves were good, Baldwin would be a lock

I am looking at what the reliever market netted other teams and applying any sort of a sales pitch to it. Dude would be literally no fish to a team if free. He was sub 2 era. He has some good inputs outside of an extremely high hr/fb rate mainly due to him insisting on throwing a terrible slider. I think I could have sold him for a good return. Heck even a reliever who pops 98 would have fine imo.

AA didn't wanna sell him for anything less than a great return bc he's gonna re-sign him. Book it

I'm hoping we target Devin Williams in FA to be our next closer (or maybe compete for the spot with another guy). He has had a pretty rough year in NY, but he was arguably the best closer in baseball the previous 3 seasons. He should come at pretty hefty discount and there's a better than a decent chance he could rebound.

I am not against an Iggy reunion if it is on the cheap and there is a competent manager who knows that a closer is not a real position. I would rather pay Iggy 9 million versus bummer.

That said he could sign him after he finished the season with the cubs or padres or Detroit.
