GDT 8/9/19 - RETURN OF THE ATTACK OF THE ANIBAL

With the caveat that much of the manager’s job happens beyond 7-10 PM, I have been pretty disheartened by Snit’s bench and bullpen usage. I wish AA has shored up the bench a little more, but he held up his end with some badly-needed bullpen upgrades, but Snit really still seems to have a hard time putting the pieces in the right places.

Maybe acquiring someone who was having a miserable season as your major offensive addition wasn’t really the greatest deadline move ever.

Didn’t seem like it at the time.

I think he did address the pitching though even if it could have been better.

would say not playing the pieces the way the GM said they were intended to be played isn’t the best job security plan.

Even if the GM’s plan was perhaps less than ideal.

Duval wasn’t acquired to fix everything. He was strictly acquired to play in games like today. Twitner literally said acuña off this day. Ozzie off this day. Dansby off. Now Camargo. It will be someone else tomorrow and not one **** was given about matchups because that is not how twitner thinks.

Yup. This is terrible roster management by Snit.

Play guys based on match ups and they will get rest between starts.

I'm a little surprised this was allowed to happen.

Snitker said he expects him to make his next start.

Yep, consider the source

Per Rotoworld -Anibal Sanchez could "barely walk" after leaving Thursday's game against the Nationals with a left calf contusion.

He also had his calf heavily wrapped. Despite this, the right-hander is hopeful of making his next start, which is scheduled for Tuesday against the Marlins. Beat writer Mark Bowman of MLB.com called that declaration somewhere between "very optimistic and unrealistic." Touki Toussaint would be a candidate to replace Sanchez if he can't get the green light for Tuesday's start.

Francisco Liriano, Shields, Ervin Santana, Matt Harvey. These guys would be incredibly easy to acquire and we could probably get the team to kick in most of the remaining salary if we include an actual prospect like Sanchez or Braxton Davidson.

The Nats hit comebacksrs that knocked two of our pitchers out this week and knocked another one off his game (Parsons). Crazy.

I can't wrap my head around his decisions. He manages like he's still in AAA and the outcome of the game isn't very important. It isn't just ignoring the platoon matchups, the defensive positions a couple of nights ago when he moved Camargo to SS and played Culberson at 3B was weird too.
