GDT 9/10/13: Braves (Teheran) @ Marlins (Koehler) 7:10 PM

This is it. Walking Schafer to get to Upton. lol

Come on, BJ! :cooter:

Honestly what in the world did Wren and the Braves scouts see in BJ to offer him such a huge contract? IMO he is currently 5th on the OF depth chart with Heyward out. Not even sure if he warrants a playoff roster spot. I know Wren and Fredi will have him on the roster, but he truly does not deserve one.

I'm guessing they saw a guy with a good career. But I think 5th on the depth chart is too harsh. He's better than Schafer, with a healthy Jason I'd have him on the bench in the playoffs if he doesn't start hitting.

His history. His brother (huge marketing value).

Good career? Not sure about that. Curious what makes you think he is better than Schafer? Look at the numbers.

I'm looking at the numbers, BJ with a career 103 wRC+ Schafer has a career 75

Schafer being hot in April and May doesn't effect now, going into tonight, Schafer has a .476 OPS since coming back from the DL in that same basic time frame Bossman has a .609 OPS. Neither are good, but Bossman has been better.

Schafer actually makes contact while BJ has too many empty at bats

Career wise BJ has 1160 K's in 3937 at bats ..ouch!!!

So? It's not like Jordan Schafer is Ichiro. He's struck out in his career 26.6% of the time, for Bossman's career he's struck out 25.9% of the time

Care to keep digging the hole?

You say that like he has been this bad before. What they saw was a plus defender at a premium position with 30-30 potential who is entering his prime years. I was an advocate for signing him too. No one expected this. He has always had bad slumps but he had months like Justin had in April and August to make up for it. He just hasnt had that hot streak to balance out his stat line this year. He had a decent June but crap beyond that. Hopefully he evens that out with a full season hot streak next year.
