GDT -- 9/10

AJ starting. I hate this. Bethancourt finally had a great offensive game and we sit him the next day.
Isn't that what you're supposed to do, let his feel good last? It's not about finding a hot streak and riding it out. They play a million games and he'll likely get an AB or two today anyway.

After a young guy has a good game, I like to see him get another start. Who knows what the best strategy is?

You have to let Bethancourt sink or swim. With our season toast you have to let him work with Shelby so they can figure each other out. If not then just trade him. AJ isn't our franchise catcher, CB possibly is. You have to start him from here on, especially after a good game.

I disagree. Fans are too nervous and fatalistic. If Beth is getting on a hot streak, sitting for a few innings won't matter. "Sink or swim." lol Just what Bethancourt needs to hear.

However, it's not like Shelby has a good luck charm in A.J.

Olivera has good speed for his size. Already has a couple of infield singles on balls that a power hitter is typically thrown out on.

"Obviously" nobody would say to him. At some point he has to be given a full time chance.

Olivera just got completely sawed off by an inside fastball at like 88 mph. I have a bad feeling we are going to see a lot more of that tactic against him going forward.

The Braves are now officially out of the playoff race. Shame too, because we could just feel the 21 game winning streak coming on. Oh well.
