GDT 9/11/23: Braves @ Phillies - DH Game 1

Gotcha. I just checked and it looks like Winans was sent down for Stephens. And if no extra player is added after Sept callups then it looks like Wright won't pitch unless someone goes down between games.

AJSS or Jackson will go down. Probably AJSS.

2023 overall xwOBA:
Iglesias .259
Minter .291

2023 xwOBA vs RHB:
Iglesias .258
Minter .261

2023 xwOBA vs LHB:
Iglesias .261
Minter .347

So Iglesias is very clearly the BP Ace, and I want him facing the stars of the opposing lineup late in the game regardless of handedness.

Knowing beyond all doubt Snit is going to pitch Iglesias in the 9th no matter what is frustrating, but at this point we know what dinoSnit is. All we can hope for is proper matchups in innings 6-8, and despite Minter's odd splits this year I want him in there vs LHB in those innings...not just blindly pitching the 8th.

Wright to start game 2... and I am so freaking excited that he is back. I'm not sure I expect much, but man... can't wait!

Also:
Dylan Lee to AAA. And we've got a weird lineup...

Acuna DH
Harris CF
Riley 3B
Olson 1B
Murphy C
Rosario LF
Arcia SS
Pillar RF
Lopez 2B

Clearly iglesias is our guy, but do you throw that out when he's facing a guy like Harper? Harper was 4-7 with 4 HRs; now he's 5/8 with 5 hrs

throw out handness.. the 7th was the top of the order and the biggest inning remaining... Minter or Riggy pitches that inning and then your 3rd best guy in the 8th versus the scrubs.. I basically called the blown save scenario in the 7th.. not because I knew it would happen but because I knew it was more likely to happen the way twit managed the BP..

Now game 140 whaterever with a huge lead.. no biggie.. Lee showed he isn't ready for the postseason.. problem is, twit won't do anything different in the post season.. He only knows how to manage one way and that is 'managing for dummies' That is what is so maddening about this game.. it is a preview to the post season... (also in the fact that the offense is so good we still won)

Braves need to finish 13-6 to get the franchise record in wins.

With 7 games against Washington, it's possible unless Snit punts the last week.

If the Braves don’t get to 107, I don’t want to hear any talk of them being an all-time great team.

To me, you gotta finish it with both 105+ wins and a championship to be considered in the all time great discussion.

I always think of the 116 win Mariners team. They could've been in that category but coughed up a hairball to the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs. We'll see if this is the year they finally get that monkey off their backs.

As far as our team goes, the most significant aspect of its legacy is yet to be written.
