GDT 9/11/23: Braves @ Phillies - DH game 2

Fast-forwarded through this one after Wright's first inning, but some of the comments here that he may have figured something out sound encouraging. Still don't think he's going to contribute anything the rest of the way, but I'd be happy to be wrong.

And I realize they half-punted this game, but some of our hitters have got to stop giving away so many strikes and refusing to take free walks. They can't expect to solo-homer their way to the title. Some of the homers need to have runners on base. I swear, guys like Albies, Rosario, Arcia, and even Riley actually expand their zone when they get to a 3-ball count.

This was an annoying game. Braves xBA was .240, Phils was .220 and we out homered them 3 to 1. Phils were super lucky with situational hitting. Annoying.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but nearly every time the Braves lose it comes down to the other team getting a few more bloopers.

Most close games come down to a matter of luck and we're not often getting blown out.

What series just recently (Cards maybe) we actually got blown out.. but the team had more hard hit balls and higher xBA Just the Braves hit several solo shots and the cards had guys on.

Maybe we should push to have games decided by the average EV of batted balls rather than the number of runs scored.

We could just add up the projected WAR of the teams and go right to the playoffs. Dispense with the regular season.

Sometimes we take analytics to the point of absurdity 😀
